Join us on the Garden Terrace of the Convention Center (off the West Lobby) for the official grand opening of BLACK EXPO 2010. This ceremony will be brief. It will feature greetings from sponsors and hosts, a live performance by the world renown Dorothy Love Thornton Choir from Sacramento, acknowledged presence of elected officials and special guests, and the traditional ribbon-cutting. The first day of BLACK EXPO will begin with excitement and build from there.

NEHEMIAH DISTINGUISHED SPEAKERS SERIES AND SACRAMENTO CARES MENTORING MOVEMENT PRESENTS: COMMUNITY EVENT FEATURING SUSAN L. TAYLOR (WEST LOBBY)
Susan L. Taylor, the National CARES Mentoring Movement founder and Editor-in-Chief Emeritus of Essence Magazine, will serve as speaker for the newly established Sacramento CARES Mentoring Movement. In addition, Ms. Taylor will address the Nehemiah Emerging Leadership Fellows at this open, community event. |

SACRAMENTO BLACK CHAMBER OF COMMERCE BUSINESS WORKSHOP - EXHIBIT HALL FLOOR
The Sacramento Black Chamber of Commerce (SBCC) and Bank of America will partner in offering two workshops (Friday and Saturday) for participants to learn how to manage their finances both personally and professionally. Tools will be offered to aid in fiscal management, budgeting, access to credit and other financial concerns. SBCC members attending the workshops may qualify for sponsored membership dues credits.

WILEY MANUEL BAR ASSOCIATION (WMBA) INSTALLATION OF OFFICERS RECEPTION (ROOM 103)
The Wiley W. Manuel Bar Association (WMBA) of Sacramento County, along with friends and supporters, will host an installation of officers reception at this year’s BLACK EXPO. Formerly the Sacramento Association of Black Attorneys, the WMBA promotes and protects the interests of African American attorneys, maintains a supportive role with African American law students, and aids in representing the legal interests of African Americans in the greater Sacramento area. Session is open to the public.

Aren’t they adorable? BLACK EXPO invites all guests to join hosts and friends at the Third Annual Brown Sugar Babies Contest, celebrating the beauty of Black children. Regional parents have sent in profiles and photos of their children. Finalists will be selected in categories such as Best Smile, Best Personality and Happiest Baby.
