11:00am BLACK EXPO 2009 Opens To The Public (Exhibit Hall B)
The Annual Capital City Black Expo welcomes everyone to three days of Celebration festivities of opportunities and information. This year’s theme is “The Era of Change Is Here”
11:00am Stay Connected
BLACK EXPO has a new feature in 2009 designed to keep African Americans connected. An Internet Café featuring 15 computer terminals will be available throughout our three-day event.
12:00pm Official Grand Opening. Convention City Lobby-J Street Side. 
The Ribbon-Cutting ceremony will be held outside the Sacramento Convention Center at the J Street entrance, near the Convention Center Box Office.
Featured at the event will be the spectacular Crenshaw Community Choir all the way from Southern California along with EXPO officials, major local and state elected officials, keysponsors and special guests.
2:30pm Glory Awards Presentation (Exhibit Hall D)
Join BLACK EXPO and a host of others  as we honor five of Northern California’s most outstanding spiritual leaders. This year’s honorees are Bishop Willa Kern, the Rev. Tyrone Hicks,  the Rev. Robert Jones, the Rev. Darryl Heath and Bishop Albert Galbraith, Jr. The Glory Awards are being presented to these leaders as a way of saying “thank you” for their leadership and guidance. Girl Scout Troop 911 of Capitol Heights Academy in Oak Park will be on hand all day with arts and crafts projects for the youngsters. Exhibit Hall B (special section)

Be sure to take advantage of a number of free health screenings being offered all three days of BLACK EXPO. Eli Lilly will sponsor four screenings for issues that disproportionately impact African Americans‹ cholesterol, hypertension, diabetes and Body Mass Index (BMI). CARES (Center for AIDS Research Education & Services) will also offer free, confidential HIV testing.

Fitness demonstration by Pepper Von, renowned trainer and choreographer featured on ESPN. Designed to help parents get their kids up and moving! Event also features motivational speaker Kevin Bracy.

Girls Self Esteem Project (Exhibit Hall C)
You’ve seen the shows on TV, "Toddlers and Tiaras" and "Little Miss Perfect" that show the not so nice world of pageantry. See how a local  group is changing how pageants are perceived and helping girls of color develop confidence and self-esteem. The Fathers Resource Center’s Youth Self-Esteem Program teams up with the Little Miss West Coast Pageant for a special presentation.

See Forrest Barnes, known as the Enchanted Forrest, give a whole new meaning to the term "Black Magic" with a show that will delight kids of all ages.
